Reina del Huipil (Queen of Huipil) is a cultural festival to one of the most beautiful & colourful festivals of Mexico. It’s a festival to honor the tradition of textiles and ancestral languages with art, dance, music and party, at pueblo magico (magical town) of Cuetzalan, at the Northern Sierra Madre of Puebla State.

Cuetzalan appoints a young indigenous woman as ambassador of the traditional female garment named Huipil during celebration to honor Saint Francis of Assisi (October 4th). A selected group of young women, representing Cuetzalan’s villages, compete for the title parading before the judges at town’s main square, wearing large and intricate wool headgear, carrying a ribbon in their hands, sporting regional dresses and barefoot.
